This is a list of map locations in Slay the Spire. See Map Generation for details on how locations are placed and connected.

The maps of each Act in Slay the Spire consist of 7 different types of locations, indicated by different icons.

  • Map-Elite.png Elite Encounter
  • Map-RestSite.png Rest Sites

Monsters

See here for a list of Monsters and Monster Encounters.

Monsters are the basic enemies in Slay the Spire. When entering a monster encounter, you will enter battle with one or more enemies.

There are two separate pools of monster encounters in each act: the "easy pool" and the "hard pool". The first three encounters in Act 1, and the first two encounters in Act 2 and Act 3, are drawn from the easy pool. All other monster encounters are drawn from the hard pool.

After finishing combat, you will be rewarded with 10-20 Gold, a selection of three Cards, and sometimes a Potion.

Elites

See here for a full list of Elite enemies: Elites.

Elites are much stronger enemies that appear less frequently and will always reward a Relic when defeated. The same elite can appear multiple times in an act, but cannot be encountered twice in a row. (The EventClear.png Dead Adventurer event bypasses this restriction.)

After finishing combat, you are rewarded with a random Relic, 25-35 Gold, a selection of 3 cards, and a Score bonus. Card rewards from elites have a higher chance of yielding rare and uncommon cards (see Card Distribution).

Elites are more common above AscensionAscension.png 1 and become more powerful on levels Ascension.png 3, Ascension.png 8, and Ascension.png 18.

Rest Sites

See Rest Site for more info.

Rest Sites are map locations that prompt the player to choose one of several options. The default options are Rest (heal for 30% of max HP, rounded down) and Smith (Upgrade a card). More options can be added by obtaining certain Relics, or by unlocking Act 4. Only one option can be chosen per Rest Site.

There will always be a Rest Site before the Boss encounter, regardless of the path you take. The only exception to this is in Act 4, where it is the first room in the Act.

Unknown

See Unknown Location for more info.

Unknown encounters have a chance to be an Event, Monster, Shop, or Treasure Room. Any time a specific encounter is not seen, its spawn chance increases. When it is seen, it will reset to the original amount.

With the Mod DeadlyEvents.png Deadly Events modifier, Unknown locations can also contain Elites.

Treasure Room

See Chests for more info.

Treasure Rooms are guaranteed at the halfway points of Acts 1-3. A single chest will appear where the enemies would be in combat; clicking it opens a reward window.

Chests normally contain a single relic, and may have Gold as well. Some Relics change what rewards are in chests.

Merchant

See Merchant for more info.

The Shop is the primary way to spend Gold in-game. The Merchant sells a selection of 5 character Cards, 2 Colorless Cards, 3 Relics, 3 Potions, and a card removal service that can only be used once per shop.

Some Relics change the prices of the Shop.

Boss

See Bosses for more info..

Every Act ends with a Boss encounter. A Rest Site will also be placed on the locations leading to it except for Act 4, which has a special Elite encounter before the boss. Bosses are difficult enemies that have large health pools and strong moves.

Every Act has 3 bosses different bosses that can be fought except for Act 4, which only has the Map-CorruptHeart.png Corrupt Heart.

After defeating the Act 1 or Act 2 boss, you are rewarded with 95-105 Gold, a choice of 3 Rare Cards, and sometimes a random Potion. The following floor has a special chest with a choice of 3 Boss Relics.

The Act 3 and 4 bosses do not give any rewards. Beating the Act 3 boss without all Keys, or beating the Act 4 boss, will result in a run victory.
