Custom Mode

Custom Mode is an alternate game mode unlocked by playing the Daily Climb once. It allows the player to enable any number of modifiers on their run, including Daily Modifiers. It also allows customizing the seed of your run along with the character and Ascension Level.

Playing with Custom Mode disables Achievements and leaderboards as well as Neow's starting bonuses.

Selecting two mods that are mutually exclusive will disable whichever one was selected first.

Daily Modifiers

When playing the Daily Climb, 3 of these modifiers are selected at random.

Draft Draft a starting deck of cards.
  • The draft contains 15 choices of 3 cards each which will be chosen in order.
Mod SealedDeck.png
Sealed Deck Craft a deck from 30 random cards.
  • You are presented with 30 cards and you must pick 10 of them to make your deck.
Mod Greed.png
Hoarder Whenever you add a card to your deck, add two additional copies. You can no longer remove cards from your deck at the Merchant.
Mod RestlessJourney.png
Insanity Start with a random deck of 50 cards.
Mod Chimera.png
Chimera Your starting deck is a fusion of all 4 characters.
Mod Shiny.png
Shiny Your starting deck is replaced with 1 of every rare card.
  • Grants 1 of each of your character's rare cards.
  • Having the "Cards" or Mod Diverse.png Diverse modifiers gives rare cards from other characters too.
  • PandorasBox.png Pandora's Box will not appear.
Mod Specialized.png
Specialized Start with 5 copies of a single card.
  • The card is a random card.
  • Works with the "Cards" modifiers and Mod Diverse.png Diverse.
Mod Vintage.png
Vintage Normal Enemies drop relics instead of cards.
Mod ControlledChaos.png
Controlled Chaos Start with FrozenEye.png Frozen Eye. At the start of your turn, add 10 random cards to the bottom of your draw pile.
Mod AllStar.png
All Star Start with 5 colorless cards.
Mod Diverse.png
Diverse Cards are not restricted by your character.
Mod RedCards.png
Red Cards Red cards now appear in rewards and shops.
Mod GreenCards.png
Green Cards Green cards now appear in rewards and shops.
Mod BlueCards.png
Blue Cards Blue cards now appear in rewards and shops.
Mod PurpleCards.png
Purple Cards Purple cards now appear in rewards and shops.
Mod ColorlessCards.png
Colorless Cards Colorless cards now appear in rewards.
Mod Heirloom.png
Heirloom Start with one 1 Rare relic.
  • Unlike other modifiers that give you a relic, this does not replace your starting relic.
Mod TimeDilation.png
Time Dilation All enemies start with the Icon Slow.png Slow debuff.
  • EliteClear.png Giant Head is unaffected because it already has Icon Slow.png Slow.
  • Enemies with Icon Artifact.png Artifact will block this debuff and lose 1 stack.
Mod Flight.png
Flight You may ignore paths when choosing the next room to travel to.
Mod DeadlyEvents.png
Deadly Events Unknown rooms can now contain Elites but are also more likely to contain Treasure Rooms.
Mod Binary.png
Binary Card rewards contain only two cards.
Mod CursedRun.png
Cursed Run Whenever you defeat a Boss, become Cursed. Your starting relic is replaced by CursedKey.png Cursed Key, DarkstonePeriapt.png Darkstone Periapt, and Du-VuDoll.png Du-Vu Doll.
Mod EliteSwarm.png
Big Game Hunter Elites are now swarming the Spire and drop better rewards.
  • Elites will appear more often and always drop Rare Cards.
Mod LethalEnemies.png
Lethality You start each combat with +3 Icon Strength.png Strength. All enemies start each combat with +3 Icon Strength.png Strength.
Mod Midas.png
Midas Enemies drop 200% more Gold, but you cannot Upgrade cards at Rest Sites.
Mod NightTerrors.png
Night Terrors Resting at Rest Sites heals 100% of your HP, but costs 5 max HP.
Mod ToughEnemies.png
Terminal Whenever you enter a new room, lose 1 max HP. Start each combat with 5 Icon PlatedArmor.png Plated Armor.
  • Max HP cannot be lowered below 1.
Mod CertainFuture.png
Certain Future The map contains only one path.

Custom Modifiers

These cannot be selected in the Daily Climb gamemode or by the Daily Mods modifier.

Modifier Name Effects Notes
Daily Mods Embark on a run with exactly 3 random Daily Mods.
The Ending Enables the Final Act.
  • Enables the three Keys to access Act 4.
  • Mutually exclusive with Mod Endless.png Endless.
  • This modifier is hidden until the player defeats the Map-CorruptHeart.png Corrupt Heart with all four characters in Standard Mode.
Mod Endless.png Endless Winning will return you to Act 1 with the same deck. But beware, the blight eventually consumes all...
  • Puts the game on repeat and Neow will grant Blights to make the game harder.
  • Mutually exclusive with The Ending.
Blight Chests Boss chests contain Blights after beating Act 3 on Endless.
  • Whenever a player kills a Boss after beating Act 3 for the first time this run. instead of a boss chest with a choice of 3 Boss Relics, the player will be given a blight chest with a choice of two Blights.
  • Has no effect if Mod Endless.png Endless is not enabled.
Praise Snecko Replaces your starting relic with SneckoEye.png Snecko Eye.
  • Works with other modifiers that replace your starting relic.
Inception Replaces your starting relic with UnceasingTop.png Unceasing Top.
  • Works with other modifiers that replace your starting relic.
My True Form Start with a copy of CardIcon Ironclad Power Rare.png Demon Form, CardIcon Silent Power Rare.png Wraith Form, CardIcon Defect Power Rare.png Echo Form, and CardIcon Watcher Power Rare.png Deva Form.
One Hit Wonder Start the game with 1 max HP.
  • Max HP cannot be lowered below 1.
Starter Deck Start with BustedCrown.png Busted Crown and Mod Binary.png Binary, so enemies no longer drop cards.

Blights

When playing with Mod Endless.png Endless and Blight Chests, a set of special Relics called Blights will be enabled. Blights always have a strong negative effect on your run.

Blights show below your relic list as a separate row, do not show up in your run history or compendium, and do not have flavor text.

Neow's Blights

MimicInfestation.png Mimic Infestation Treasure rooms in future acts are replaced by Elites. Elites no longer drop Relics.
Muzzle.png Muzzle You can no longer increase your Max HP. All healing is halved.
BlightShield.png Shield of Blight Enemies have 50% more HP.
BlightSpear.png Spear of Blight Enemies deal 100% more damage.
TimeMaze.png Time Maze You cannot play more than 15 cards per turn. (Similar to Time Eater's Icon TimeWarp.png Time Warp except constant.)

Chest Blights

Accursed.png Accursed Whenever you defeat a Boss, obtain 2 random Curses.
AncientAugmentation.png Ancient Augmentation Enemies start combat with 1 Icon Artifact.png Artifact, 10 Icon PlatedArmor.png Plated Armor, and 10 Icon Regen.png Regenerate.
Durian.png Post-Durian Lose 50% of your Max HP.
Hauntings.png Hauntings Enemies start combat with 1 Icon Intangible.png Intangible.
Scatterbrain.png Scatterbrain Draw 1 less card each turn.
TwistingMind.png Twisting Mind At the end of your turn, add 1 random Status card to the top of your draw pile.
VoidEssence.png Void Essence Lose 1 ColorlessEnergy.png Energy permanently.

Removed Modifiers

These modifiers are no longer in the game. All of these were Daily Modifiers except for Heartbreaker.

Mod TimeDilation.png
Careless At the beginning of your turn, discard the top card of your draw pile.
Mod Colossus.png
Colossus Enemies now have more HP but drop better rewards.
  • Enemies would drop more Uncommon and Rare cards, but had significantly more HP.
Mod RestlessJourney.png
Restless Journey The player no longer heals to full health when entering new Acts.
Heartbreaker Enables the Final Act
  • Used to be a custom modifier.
  • Replaced with The Ending.

Custom Seeds

In addition to using Custom Mode in the main menu, seeds may be inputted to activate some custom modifiers' effects. O(letter) and 0(number) are interchangable in these seeds.
